ScreenOff

Terms of Use

Last updated: August 26, 2026 · ScreenOff for iOS

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the ScreenOff iOS application and related services (“ScreenOff”, “the app”). By downloading or using ScreenOff, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. What ScreenOff is

ScreenOff helps you keep a bedtime and wake-up commitment by blocking distracting apps during a wind-down / overnight window (using Apple Screen Time APIs) and requiring a morning mission (math, steps, or QR scan) after your wake alarm. Results may affect streaks and progress shown in the app.

ScreenOff is a self-accountability tool. It is not medical advice, a medical device, or a substitute for professional care for sleep disorders or other health conditions.

2. Eligibility

You must be able to enter a binding agreement under the laws of your region. If you use ScreenOff for a minor, you are responsible for their use and for complying with App Store age requirements.

3. Your responsibilities

4. Apple platforms and limitations

ScreenOff depends on Apple frameworks such as Family Controls / Managed Settings / DeviceActivity, notifications, and (on supported OS versions) AlarmKit. Apple may change, limit, or require additional approvals for these APIs. Features may differ by iOS version (for example, alarms that pierce Focus / silent mode may require newer systems; older devices may use notification fallbacks).

ScreenOff cannot guarantee that every alarm will sound in every Focus, Low Power, or hardware state, or that Screen Time shielding will cover every app or website you intend to block.

5. ScreenOff Pro subscription

Certain features (including Hard lock) may require an auto-renewable subscription (“ScreenOff Pro”) purchased through the Apple App Store.

Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s refund policies. We do not process card payments directly.

6. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use ScreenOff on Apple devices you own or control, as allowed by the App Store terms. You may not reverse engineer, redistribute, or misuse the app except as permitted by law.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

ScreenOff is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, unbroken streaks, or that blocking / alarms will always prevent phone use or oversleeping.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or sleep outcomes arising from your use of ScreenOff. Our total liability for any claim relating to ScreenOff will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for ScreenOff Pro in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) USD $50. Some regions do not allow certain limitations; in those regions, our liability is limited to the fullest extent allowed.

9. Privacy

Your use of ScreenOff is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

10. Changes and termination

We may update these Terms or the app. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms. We may suspend or stop offering ScreenOff features if required by Apple policy, law, or technical limits. You may stop using ScreenOff at any time by deleting the app and canceling any subscription.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless mandatory consumer protections in your place of residence say otherwise. Courts in Montreal, Quebec shall have jurisdiction, subject to those protections.

12. Contact
